Once you left Bruges, Belgium and Flanders have a lot of other interesting cities in store. You can easily go to Gent, Kortrijk, Antwerp or Brussels for example. Staying in a hotel Gent will here and there remind you of your time in Bruges, mainly because of the fact that the historical city centre is as beautiful as Bruges'. The quality of the Ghent hotels is also comparable to Bruges. The biggest difference when staying in a hotel Gent is that the city is a lot more vibrant and contemporary, mainly due to the presence of over 30.000 students! Spending the night in a hotel Gent will simply leave you speechless. Another famous student town in Flanders is Kortrijk. Anyone who decides to stay in a hotel Kortrijk will quickly notice that this city, although rather small, has lots of interesting features. The best hotels Kortrijk are located in the historic city centre, or in the beautiful outskirts of the city. Off all hotels Kortrijk I once stayed in the Hotel Broel, a very luxurious hotel Kortrijk in the middle of the city!
Of all Flemish cities, there's one that rises above all the others: Antwerp. This city by the river Scheldt is the most vibrant city in Flanders, capital of Fashion, capital of Diamonds, city of one of the biggest European ports, city where "it's happening". Staying in a hotel Antwerpen equals staying in a very modern and refreshing city, full of creativity and entrepreneurship. The best Antwerp hotels are located within walking distance of the best spots such as the Groenplaats, the Meir, the Keyserlei, the Kammenstraat, and so on. Last summer I stayed at the Hotel Rubenshof, a very cosy and charming hotel Antwerpen, located along one of those famous Antwerp boulevards. Next year I'll definitely book a stay in that Antwerp hotel again!
Ik kreeg van een toeristische website de opdracht om op verschillende plaatsen telkens een paar dagen in verschillende hotels te verblijven, om nadien een overzichtje te kunnen makan van mijn wedervaren. En zo gebeurde het, een paar weken geleden startte ik met mijn eerste hotel aan de kust, waar ik een paar dagen zal verblijven, om nadien door te reizen naar Brugge en Gent, en tenslotte te eindigen in Antwerpen en Brussel. Dromen zijn er om waar te maken, en ik ben er dan ook vandaag mee begonnen, meer bepaald in de westelijk uithoek van het land, De Panne. Uit alle hotels in De Panne koos ik er eentje die me op het eerste zicht een modern hotel lijhkt, zeer rustig gelegen en bovendien op nog geen 300 meter van het kilometerlange strand gelegen. Ik kijk al uit naar vannacht en de komende 10 dagen!
Vanochtend verliet ik De Panne en zette ik mijn tocht verder. Vrijwel meteen vond ik eenhotel in Nieuwpoort die aan mijn wensen voldeed, nl. Hotel Cosmopolite, nabij de zee, de pier en de haven en in vergelijking met andere hotels in Nieuwpoort dichtbij de belangrijkste winkelstraat. Deze avond een wandeling langs de jachthaven gemaakt, werkelijk verbluffend!
